Prior to breast reconstruction, many women will have tissue expanders inserted under their skin to expand or stretch their remaining tissue to accommodate saline/silicone implants or other tissue used to reconstruct a breast. Typically tissue expansion can take anywhere from eight weeks to over a year (in certain circumstances). For the unilateral patient, finding a way to maintain balance of their outward silhouette can be challenging. Most traditional breast prostheses do not have a “built-in accommodation” to facilitate these gradual levels of expanded tissue.
The eighty30 Transitional Breast Prosthesis was designed for this purpose in mind. It is a temporary alternative while you are in-between procedures. Like all of eighty30’s products, these forms are breathable, lightweight, surgical site-friendly, and do not need mastectomy bras or specialty lingerie. Wear them directly against your skin!
